Biography
LifeStyle of a Young Artist
This is Serious, I just wanted to tell you about my life growing up as an artist. I started drawing when I was around four or five years old. I would trace comic book characters and drawings from the Lowrider Arte Magazines. When I showed my parents what I traced they showed every one I my family. I loved the way every one looked up to me, which made me want to impress them even more. I realized that I needed to really learn how to draw before I lost my new found respect. By the time I was in 3rd grade I was selling drawings of the local high schools mascot for 25cents a piece. My friends would buy them for their older brothers or sisters. At the end of the week I had a few dollars saved up to spend on my girl friends. I also drew images upon request. You name it, I would draw it. Once I hit Junior High my walls, books and desk were covered in art. I would draw all day every day. At that time every one was into break dancing, including yours truly. That's when I got into graffiti. Every one wanted their name on their shoes, caps, book covers backpacks, lol. I started writing on everything. At the age of 15yrs old my peers encouraged me to start tattooing. Before then I was mostly into graffiti but decided to give it a try. After I learned the does and don'ts it became as easy as drawing. I made sure that by the time graduation rolled around I was ready for my spot in the local tattoo shop. That's where I got the nickname, " Serious ". The shop was alright but I couldn't stand waiting around for customers. At the age of 22yrs old I decided it was time to move on to the next step. I thought to my self, the more people who know about my work, the more work I could sell. Before it was all word of mouth. I became very focused on advertisement and began learning new ways to show my work. I had a portfolio but the internet was the best way to promote to a very large audience. I started to advertise on myspace, facebook and other social networks. The HTML coding used in some of the network sites caught my attention and I wanted to learned how to read it. Over the next two years I studied graphic programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Dreamweaver and Flash. Through the help and support of my family, I was able to earned my Associates of Science Degree in Graphic Design from AnthemCollegeOnline. Now I can bring my art to a new level, on the computer screen. Computers have opened my eyes to the new opportunity that lies in web development, advertisement and most importantly my art. -Serious |
